What do you do?
Sometimes I wonder this myself! Aside from my duties as creator and editor of this blog, I also run my own business as a professional organizer. Yes, it’s very similar to what you see on TV! I go into people’s home and physically help them to simplify, and organize their life. I provide hands-on organizing services, motivational speaking, time-management coaching, virtual assistance, and more. See all my services and read more about me.
How/when did you get started?
Honestly, I’ve been doing this my entire life…however; I’ve only been getting paid since about 2008! I started Simple Organized Living {the business, not the website} as a fun hobby to make a little extra cash. Since then, it has continued to grow and morph into more than I ever thought possible.
Do you color-code your closet?
Nope! While I definitly think color-coding is a great way to organize, it doesn’t work well for me. When I get dressed, I don’t think about what color I want to wear, but rather, what type of clothing I want to wear (sweater, t-shirt, dress, etc) so I organize my closet by “type” not by “color”. However, if you choose your clothing by color, then color-coding might be the way to go.

Actually, you can most-likely find it yourself. All you have to do is type the name of the post, recipe, idea, or key word into the search bar — at the top of the right sidebar. Then click “Search”. It should pull up any related posts. If you’re still having trouble, feel free to contact me and I’ll try to find it for you.

Sure! I love my job, I love working from home, and I love setting my own hours. What are your favorite organizing products?
Oh boy…where do I start? I love using free things I find around my house; like shoe boxes, baskets, mugs, peg board, etc. Organizing does not have to be expensive…just get creative! I also love shopping at Target, Ikea, and The Container Store.

Have you ever watched the show “Hoarders”?
Yes, we don’t have cable, but I have seen Hoarders. I have also had a few opportunities to worked with hoarders. Believe it or not, there are thousands of people who live like this every day. It’s so sad, but unless they are ready to change and get help, there is really nothing I can do.
